Single trip insurance is a cheap and simple way to get cover for travellers who only travel once or twice a year. All you need to do is supply the start and end date of your trip and the country you’re going to.
Basic cover can be as little as £10 for a seven day trip and you can add any extras you need in event of a claim to extend your level of cover. It is recommended that you add any extra cover to your policy if required such as medical insurance or family insurance if you know you may end up needing them, and extra cover against theft or loss of baggage is always a bonus- but this is usually covered in the basic package. But, remember, always double check!
Comparison sites can make this whole process easier for you so you don’t have to search through all the different sites to find the right one and then be unable to remember which one it was that was the best. By filling in the details of your party including age and gender, the country you’re going to and the dates you will be there the website will locate all the different types of cover for you and then give you the option to add any extras such as protection against flight cancellation and baggage cover on that you might want and to increase your cover if you feel you might need that little bit extra for whatever reason.
As always, companies will remind you that keeping safe on holiday is a must and you should aim to keep yourself and your valuables safe at all costs and not just think automatically that it doesn’t matter because the insurers will cover it. Although the insurers are there to help you make a claim if you genuinely need one they will be able to tell straight away if you were just being careless or lax and many have a very in depth process to work out if you really need it.
